WOMEN's TEAM World Champions |
German
|
For more than 15 years
already make
only four nations
in women's gymnastics
mutually the
medals among themselves:
Twice the
team title went to
Romania (1999, 2001),
once to China
(2006) and also once
to Russia (2010,
Rotterdam)
|
|
... and previously
4x -
this last twice in a row
to the
USA, which realized the hat-trick
of the currentpre-Olympic
Worlds 2015 in
Glasgow, because already in the
preliminaries the US dominated
girls with acompelling
team performance and won the team title now to
the fifth time.
* Doha 2018
:
Course Gold - that was the US girls' clear motto after an
overwhelming qualifying competition, also with more than 9 points ahead of Russia and China
in the Team Final. These 3 medallists are qualified for the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo already; in Stuttgart 2019 followed the other 9 nations ...!
USA - unbeatable again in Stuttgart 2019, winning the 9th golden team medal in a row in this decennium!!
And also in 2022 in Liverpool, after a clear lead after the qualification ahead of Great Britain and Brazil, the USA confidently won their 8th World Championship title in the new millennium - their 6th team gold in direct succession.
The host British women were runners-up for the first time and Canada won its first World Cup team medal with bronze!
* 2023 in Antwerp the Canadians really crashed, but in 12th place they still managed to qualify for the Olympics, which Germany (since Sydney 2000) missed for the 2nd time this millennium by -0.101 points.
Who still doubts that the "Biles squad of the USA" will reach for their 9th WCh team title ...?
TEAM gold for the USA for the 9th time
and for the 7th time in a row since 2011. Brazil become runners-up and
win the first ever women's team medal. And France's surprise bronze
medal is the second ever team medal after 73 years (- last silver in
Basel 1950)!
.. and with her 20th World Championship title, Simone Owens-BILES now replaced the Soviet legend Larissa LATYNINA as the most successful gymnast in history with 33 Olympic and World Championship medals!!!
