BTV Luzern wins in Fremont

The young team of the Swiss BTV Luzern, the club of the Olympic champion on Pommelhorse (Atlanta, 1996) Donghua, Li - won a friendly meet in the Fremont-Top Flight Gym Arena against the Northen Californian All Star Gymnastics Team. The hosts lead before the high bar with 0,8 points, but the young Swiss gymnasts made a strong last rotation and were the winner at the end with a difference of 1,2 points.
The Swiss team is on the way to Anaheim as tourists for their Swiss National team...

German Men s Team ready for Anaheim

Two days before flying to Anaheim the German men's team of artistic gymnastics made its last test competition in the German training camp Kienbaum near Berlin.
Best of all-round was the German Vice Champion Christian Berczes and so the gymnast from SV Halle came as the number 6 into the WCh team.
Robert Juckel from Cottbus is the emergency men No. 1 and Dmitri Nonin (Berlin) is the the No.8...

Under the protection of the International Olympic Committee take place the '7th European Youth Olympic Festival 2003' in the French capital Paris.
The best European talents of 10 kind of sports come together this week.
The Ukrain girls won the team competition, followed by Netherlands, Russia and Romania. Yulia Lozhechko (RUS/26,025) won the all around competition and Giorgia Benecchi (ITA) was the double winner on final day...

Slovakia beats Croatian Team

The artistic gymnastics men's team of host Slovakia won a friendly dual meet in Bratislava against Croatia with a score of 210.30 to 203,15 points.
Filip Ude from Croatia was the best gymnast in all-around with a score of 52,55 points.
The Croatian national coach Nenad Solar appointed the national team of his country after this event...:

Germans are preparing for the 2003 World Champs

Members of the German Women's National Gymnastics Team are training at the University of Utah's Dumke Gymnastics Center through Aug. 7 in preparation for the 2003 Gymnastics World Championships in Anaheim, Calif., Aug. 16-24.
Also training with the German Team in Salt Lake is Oksana from Uzbekistan.
Chusovitina (28), who competed in the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympic Games, will be trying to qualify for her fourth Olympic Games.

China s teams for Anaheim

After seven tests among the 21 national team athletes, the Chinese Gymnastics Association (CGA) finally selected seven men and seven women to take part in the high-profile international event, the World Champs in Anaheim.
On August 2, the team began training at South Coast Gymnastics.
Led by four Olympic champions - Li Xiaopeng, Yang Wei, Huang Xu and Xing Aowei - the Chinese men's side boasts the strongest line-up in the men's team competition. Besides, young guns and Asian champions Teng Haibin, Liang Fuliang and Xiao Qin, the pommel horse runner-up in the last two Worlds, are also the medal contenders in the horizontal bar and pommel horse....

Swiss Greetings from L.A.

Swiss gymnastics arrived allready in Los Angeles, though they are not talking about the Swiss national team, leaving on august 8th for the world championship. The gymnasts they refer to are the best ones from the Swiss club BTV Lucerne, lead by Bruno Nietlispach, choach of the Olympic champion Li Donghua.
Anaheim will be the start of a tour trough California, during which they will meet the best Californien teams, the top fight gym and the Stanford gyms on August 7th and August 9th, respectively....

Chusovitina starting for Uzbekistan in Anaheim

This week the Uzbekistan Federation released Oksana Chusovitina to compete for the Germans for humanitarian reasons.
However, since Oksana has not lived in Germany for 3 years, she does not yet have permission of the German government to compete for the German team.
Just now Oksana Chusovitina is in a special tarining camp together with the German team on the campus of the University of Utah...

Deferr: Dispossession of World Medal

The International Gymnastics Federation announced yesterday, that the Spanish Olympic champion (vault, 2000 Sydney) Gervasio Deferr will be stripped of his last world silver medal (floor, Debrecen 2002) because of a positiv drug test (marijuana) prior to world championships last autumn.
Deferr was test positive for marijuana at both the Spanish Championships and subsequent French International. The Spanish Sports Council suspended Deferr for three months in the spring of 2003., but now the FIG Disciplinary Commission announced Deferr's three month suspension would be retroactive to the date of the first test....

Aussies ready to go!

The final verification of the women's artistic gymnastics team of the Australian Gymnastics Federation took place this weekend in Canberra, Australia.
Team coach Peggy Liddick has brought in three FIG neutral judges to judge the Australian World Championships Team!
Winner was Allana Slater with a final score of 36,558, followed by Belinda Archer (36,541) and Monette Russo (36,466)...
... the Australien team scored 147,907 points....
