The International Gymnastics Federation (F.I.G.) publishes a statement of its Vice President and President of the Medical and Competitions Commissions, Dr. Michel LEGLISE, with extensiv explanations about Furosemide Antidoping controls. It ends with a caution to federations, coaches and athletes...:

Anna Pobokova s international comeback

 Anna POBOKOVA (NED) will com back  to international competitions again after her severe traffic accident in January 2007.
Her first competition will be in Calais (FRA) next weekend, February 29 to March 1.
After that, Anna POBOKOVA  will visit the Obuda Cup 2008 in Budapest (HUN) together with the young Dutch talent Daniëlle Bubberman (1993) from the sports club SV Omnia 2000 -  on March 29th 2008. Next terms for Pobokova will be two Grand Prix’s in spring 2008...

Alina Kabaeva says Good Bye for good ...

Olympic Champion Alina KABAEVA will take leave of active competitive sports, as Irina Viner, Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics head coach, announced to the Russian press. This is supposed to be a final decision after Kabaeva had already announced her withdrawal after her Olympic gold medal in fall 2004 (see News 10.Oktober 2004). LA Lights Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament of Champions 2008

From January 24 - 27 the America's Premier Rhythmic Gymnastics Event "LA LIGHTS INVITATIONAL 2008" was held,  hosted by Los Angeles'  "School of Gymnastics". Competitors from 14 countries and Olympians from the 2004 Olympic Games took part.
Winner of the top 10 level was the reigning all-around world champion from the Ukraine, Anna BESSONOVA (71.250). On second place came Evgenia KANAEVA (RUS; 69,375), followed by Lyubov CHARKASHINA (63.875).

Grand Prix Circuit 2008 without Deventer

The Dutch press informed that the 24th Anniversary of the traditional Deventer Grand Prix Tournament 2008 is cancelled because of financial problems.
Since 1985, then as "Alfred Vogel Tournament" , it has been a fixed component of the Grand Prix Circuit of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
The 2008 series will start in Moscow at the end of February and will end with the eighth event in November in Bratislava.
