29th ACROBATIC GYMNASTICS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2034

The 29th Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships are returning to Portugal for the first time since 2006, and more than just world titles are in play. The Pavilhao Multiusos Guimaraes, the main arena in the city known as the birthplace of Portugal, is no stranger to gymnastics: in 2018 and 2022, it hosted the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships. Now it’s Acro’s turn to bask in the Portuguese spotlight, as two years of work from the sport’s top contenders culminate in a thrilling world finale from September 19 - 22.
Thirty-one nations had registered to compete in Guimaraes, including the People’s Republic of China, which  participated in its first Acro worlds in six years. China has traditionally been among Acro’s most successful nations, though the global health crisis kept athletes at home for the past two editions of the World Championships.
* Also at stake is qualification to the The World Games in Chengdu (CHN) happening 7-17 August 2025.

♦♦ Acro WCh Balances after the last Final event:
After a six-year break from the World Championships, the once leading nation CHINA made a comeback and won the Nations Cup on the second day of the competition ahead of Azerbaijan, Israel and Ukraine.
Four more world championship titles followed. In particular, the Chinese shone with their two groups. Their men's group, with the highest difficulty of 3.27 in their dynamic routine on the final day, also brought the competition to a golden close with five gold medals.
But Europe's top acro nation BELGIUM also won five gold medals, narrowly overtaking the Chinese in the overall standings with one more silver medal than China (women's group, comb.).
The third-best nation in the medal tally was AZERBAIJAN with four gold, one silver and three bronze.
Host nation Portugal entered its men's pair (dyn.) and Ukraine's mixed pair in the winners' list.
Israel's performance was also impressive, albeit without a World Championship victory, but with 7x silver and 2x bronze.
