In the men's trampoline final, the Belarusian Ivan LITVINOVICH, who was authorised with a special permit as a so-called "neutral athlete" via two World Cup qualifications, repeated his Olympic success from Tokyo. With the highest-calibre final routine in all categories, he relegated his two fiercest rivals from China, the 18-year-old WANG, Zisai, and the two-time and current world champion YAN, Langyu, to the medal places.
* In the women's event, the experienced Brit Bryony PAGE became the first trampoline gymnast to complete an Olympic medal set with the gold medal in Paris after winning silver in Rio (2016) and bronze in Tokyo (2021)! Viyaletta BARDZILOUSKAYA (AIN) won silver and Canada's Sophiane METHOD prevented a Chinese medal success and surprisingly relegated the Olympic champion from Tokyo, Zhu, Xueying, to 4th place without a medal.
* PREVIEW --: The most recent Olympic gymnastics discipline since Sydney 2000, TRAMPOLINE GYMNASTICS, will be on the programme for the 7th time in Paris 2024 and 36 medals have been awarded so far.
The number of events (two) has not changed since then. At the previous Games, the athletes from the People's Republic of China have been the main winners on the podium. They have won 14 of the 36 medals awarded, including four gold medals. Four-time Olympic medallist Dong Dong (CHN) is the only one to have a complete set. However, Canadian Rosie MacLennan (35) is the only trampolinist to win two gold medals in a row (2012 in London and 2016 in Rio), but will not be competing again at the 2024 Games in Paris.
* Three great rivals could clash in the men's trampoline competition: Tokyo Olympic champion Ivan Litvinovich (AIN), two-time world champion Yan Langyu (CHN) and 2022 world champion Dylan Schmidt (NZL), the bronze medallist from Tokyo 2020. In a discipline where body control in the air is the be-all and end-all, these three will certainly test their limits in the 16-strong field of competitors.
Austria will be represented by national champion Benny Wizany, while Fabian Vogel will be competing for Germany
* In the women's event, Bryony Page (GBR) already has a silver medal from Rio de Janeiro 2016, a bronze medal from Tokyo and world titles from 2021 and 2023. Olympic gold is pretty much the only thing missing for the 33-year-old and she could get it in Paris, provided she can outdo the rest of the 16-woman squad. However, with Tokyo 2020 winner Zhu Xueying (CHN) and Hu Yicheng (CHN) standing in her way, there are two strong contenders.
German trampolinists are not qualified for Paris.

* MEN' s F I N A L --:
With the renewed success of Tokyo 2021 Olympic champion Ivan LITVINOVICH, a third Chinese success was once again out of the question!
However, the Belarusian with the so-called "neutral status" and the "AIN" identification - who was granted a special start permit after competing in the World Cup in Cottbus and Baku - won with the currently best trampoliner with the most difficult programme (18.400), the best technical execution (16.700) and the longest flight time (18.49 seconds) - and therefore also with the highest jumps!
This recognition was also paid to him by his two toughest competitors: the only 18-year-old WANG, Zisai (61.890) and the expected co-favourite and two-time and current world champion YAN, Langyu (60.950), both of whom increased the Chinese medal tally in the only 24-year-old Olympic presence of trampolining to 18!
The bronze medallist from Tokyo, Dylan Scmidt, was unlucky and dropped back to 8th place after cancelling his routine. On the other hand, the sold-out hall cheered on the 6th place of their local hero, the Frenchman Pierre Gouzou.
Germany's Fabian Vogel was 11th out of the 16 participants and unfortunately did not qualify for the final of the best eight. Nevertheless, after Henryk Stehlik's 10th place in London, a German trampoliner was back at the Olympics after 12 years.
Austria's national champion Benny Wizani has not yet returned to his old competitive form after a knee injury that has certainly not yet healed and finished 15th in the competition.

♦ WOMEN's FINAL:
While it looked like ZHU Xueying would successfully defend her title after qualifying, the Chinese women, who were spoilt for success, had to say goodbye to their medal dreams in the final: There was the first British Olympic victory in the women's event by Bryony PAGE, who, after silver in Rio 2016 and bronze most recently in Tokyo, actually fulfilled her dream of a complete set of medals: first trampoline gold for Great Britain! Bryony’s Olympic gold completes her Olympic set having won Bronze in Tokyo 2020 and Silver in Rio 2016.
The so-called "neutral athlete" BARDZILOUSKAYA Viyaleta from Belarus was already well placed behind China's ZHU in second place in the preliminary competition and the nineteen-year-old confirmed this position in the final, winning the first Olympic medal for Belarus.
After the successes of the legendary Karen Cockburn and the two recent victories by Rosannagh MacLannan, now Sophiane METHOD continued Canada's medal successes after the one-off loss in Tokyo and won the bronze medal.
Ergo: She also sensationally beat defending champion Zhu Xueying, leaving China without any medals this time after 2 successes and a total of 8 medals, as the second Chinese HU, Yisheng, also disappointed with last place after dropping out of the competition!
