Emma Malewski: Bad luck with injuries! |
After an unfortunate dismount from the uneven bars during the final World Championships training in Frankfurt, Germany's Emma MALEWSKI from Chemnitz suffered a foot injury in her left ankle. As a result the 19-year-old European Beam Champion (Munich 2022) from TuS Chemnitz-Altendorf will miss the World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, where the German girls will compete on Monday for the longed-for Olympic qualification. Thus, Karina Schönmaier from Bremen, who trains also in Chemnitz, will join the World Championships team. Last year, she finished 22nd in the all-around in Liverpool and gained her first World Championships experience. After the career end of the internationally experienced and reliable all-around gymnast Kim Bui and the injury misfortune caused by the Achilles tendon rupture of the German record champion Elisabeth Seitz and now also by Malewski's retirement, the German gymnasts are missing important key players in the fight for the coveted Olympic ticket, which is awarded to the 12 best nations.
