Asian Games without Russian and Belorusian participation

The 19^th ASIAN GAMES (2023, September 23 - 8 October 08) in Hangzhou, China, which were postponed due to the Corona Pandemic, will now take place without Russian and Belarusian participation.
According to an IOC statement, the idea of "including a planned number of about 500 athletes" from these two countries "had been studied but was not feasible for technical reasons", although the "Olympic Council of Asia" (OCA) had spoken out in favour of this at its general assembly only two months ago.
IOC President Thomas Bach had described this advance as a "creative idea". However, the sports world remains divided on this issue. Repeatedly, the sports ministers of many European countries had called for Russia and Belarus to be excluded from the 2024 Paris Summer Games.
