`f i g --: FIG President Morinari Watanabe has been re-elected as a member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations’ (ASOIF) Council.
He was re-elected in the first round with an absolute majority for a second four-year term from 2023 to 2027 by the ASOIF General Assembly held in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Wednesday 31 May 2023. His first term began in May 2019.

“The world has gone through some major changes over the past four years, which has required International Federations (IFs) to adapt to an ever-changing reality. In this context, we have seen the importance of good collaboration, and the ASOIF plays a central role in bringing Summer Olympic IFs together. It is a true privilege to be part of the ASOIF Council, and I am looking forward to working with fellow Presidents of IFs and all members of ASOIF” President Watanabe declared.
A total of three seats on the ASOIF Council were up for election at the General Assembly. Ingmar De Vos, FEI President, and Petra Sörling, ITTF President, were elected to the other two.

The "Association of Summer Olympic International Federations" (ASOIF) is a non-profit association of international sports federations that compete in the Summer Olympic Games. It is headquartered in Lausanne (SUI), the same city where the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and also the FIG are headquartered.
