2023 - ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS EUROPEANS

Since 2005, the European Gymnastics Federation has held its Continental Championships in artistic gymnastics in a two-year rhythm with changing modes:
While last year in Munich there was the full programme, including the team competition, the 44th European Women's Championships and the 45th European Men's Championships 2023 in Antalya, Turkey (April 11 - 16) would actually only include the individual competitions, i.e. all-around and apparatus finals.
But the shortened Olympic cycle makes an additional team qualification necessary for the upcoming World Championships in Antwerp, which in turn count as Olympic qualification for the 12 nations of the "Olympic Family" for Paris 2024 ...:

♦♦ This year's Continental Championships ...

...  have a special significance in that only the 13th best nations qualify for this year's World Championships in Antwerp in autumn, which in turn is considered a qualifying World Cup for the only 12 Olympic nation starting places in Paris 2024! However, the medal nations of Liverpool (2022) Great Britain and Italy as well as Spain's men and France's women have already qualified.
(Now Europe's gymnastics federation "EC" is in its own way with its strange annual change between so-called "European Team Championships" and "European Individual Championships", because this time a team competition was not even announced - apart from the fact that this mode is hardly comprehensible!)

* Special regulation:
* So now in Antalya a team of 5 athletes is allowed, 4 start on each apparatus and the 3 best scores go into the team result.
* The following rule is new: a sixth gymnast (specialist) is allowed, but he/she may only compete on a maximum of 3 apparatuses.

* The 24 gymnasts with the highest ranking obtained in the qualifying competition will qualify for the Individual All Around Final. A maximum of 2 gymnasts per National Federation are allowed. 3 reserve gymnasts will be designated.
*The 8 highest ranked gymnasts in the qualifying competition per apparatus advance to the Apparatus Finals, with a maximum of 2 gymnasts per country / final.
This event also serves the continental qualifying competition for the 2023 World Championships.
