FIG WORLD CUP Trampoline Circuit 2022

Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) - host of the 2021 Trampoline Worlds -  started in the 2022 season of international competitions with the FIG World Cup in Trampoline Gymnastics. The participation of 63 gymnasts from 14 countries is expected in the competition to be held at the National Gymnastics Arena of the capital Baku on February 12 & 13.
After this first WC 2022 in Baku followed the next three trampoline world cup events of this circuit in Rimini / Italy in May, in Coimbra (POR) in June, and finished with the 51^st International NISSEN CUP in Arosa (SUI) at the first weekend of July, because the World Cup event in St. Petersburg (RUS) in September was cancelled by the FIG because the Russian war in Ukraine!
So the international trampoline highlight of the year will take place in November in Sofia with the 36^th Trampoline World Championships ...
 

♦  3^rd WC Trampoline in Coimbra /Portugal  (26.-28. June 2022)

* * Japan dominated the Trampoline finals at the World Cup in Coimbra (POR), taking three gold medals, a silver and two bronzes, with hosts Portugal matching their total medal haul of six.

With their ability to land in the centre of the trampoline with unerring consistency, Japan’s gymnasts earned some of the highest scores across both the Individual and Synchronised Trampoline events for men and women.

The men’s Individual title was won by the rising star, 18-year-old Nishioka Ryusei (JPN) whose incredible flight and difficulty placed him ahead of Portugal’s Pedro Ferreira and Diogo Abreu, who took silver and bronze respectively.

“In this tournament, I faced my own body due to injuries,” Nishioka wrote later on Instagram. “I will continue to do my best. Right now we are going to Switzerland for the next World Cup.”

In the women’s Individual event, the experienced Doihata Chisato (JPN) outscored the field with her execution and difficulty. She looked delighted to win the title ahead of Madaline Davidson (NZL) who took silver, and Sophiane Methot (CAN) who finished third.

Two more Japanese women won gold, with Tanaka Saki and Sakurai Ena taking the Synchronised title ahead of the Portuguese pair, Ingrid Maior and Sofia Correia. The bronze medal went to the Swedish star Lina Sjoeberg and her partner Alva Lemoine.

The New Zealand partnership of Olympic Individual bronze medallist Dylan Schmidt and Reegan Laidlaw won gold in the men’s Synchronised event with a superb display of synchronicity, thereby preventing Japan from taking a clean sweep of the Trampoline gold medals. Instead, Nishioka Ryusei and his partner Ishikawa Yamato (JPN) had to settle for silver, ahead of bronze medallists Jeremy Chartier and Remi Aubin (CAN).

♦  2^nd WC Trampolinturnen in Rimini / ITA  (26.-28. May 2022)

* After a three-month break, the Trampoline World Cup series resumed in Rimini (ITA), the second of four events this year, culminating in Arosa (SUI) in early July. Unlike the first event in Baku (AZE) in February, Rimini also featured doubles mini and tumbling competitions. With February's top medalists absent from this competition, the doors were open for gymnasts from a wide array of nations to make their mark...:
* In the men's Olympic trampoline category, there was a Japanese double by Yasuhiro UEYAMA (58.520) ahead of Ryosuke Sakai (57.960) and Denmark's Benjamin Kjaer (57.360).

It should be mentioned that the second Qualification is held if there are more than 31 participants in the Trampoline Gymnastics competitions within the new Olympic cycle. There are 16 or 24 participants in the second Qualifications, depending on the scale of the competition and the number of participants. The competitions will be held without participation of spectators with the special Authorization of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with the current quarantine rules and sanitary and epidemiological requirements applied in Azerbaidchan.

♦♦ REPORT:  Belarus best at Baku Trampoline World Cup
The first Trampoline World Cup of the year concluded in Baku (AZE) on Sunday, with the men from Belarus capturing both gold medals in the individual and synchronised events.
2020 Olympic champion Ivan Litvinovich (BLR) was the most successful, winning the individual gold medal, as well as the synchronised title with teammate Andrei Builou (BLR) - who also won the individual silver medal.
The top three places in the first individual men’s qualifying round were all taken by trampolinists from Belarus. However, Aleh Rabtsau (BLR) did not pass the second qualification round and missed out on the final. Litvinovich’s individual gold medal will be redemption for his mishap at the 2021 World Championships in Baku last November, when he fell out of contention in the final.
The individual bronze medal was taken by Danil Mussabayev (KAZ) while the 17-year-old Kirill Kozlov (RUS), who qualified in fourth (Q1) and sixth (Q2) place, succumbed to the pressure in the final, where an error forced him to abandon his routine and place last of the eight finalists.
