After the fourth FIG Apparatus World Cup of the FIG Spring Series (March 31 to April 04) and the "AGF Trophy" in Baku, the 2022 circuit was continued with six more so-called World Challenge Cups ( ... what makes the difference ...??) over the course of the year - after the summer ebvents in Varna, Osijek, and Koper (June 16-19), and after than Paris (Sep 24/25), Szombathely (Sep 30 - Oct 01/02), now one week later in Mersin / TUR (Oct 07 - 09) finished the FIG circuit of this year.
The results of the best 3 of 4 this row of four Apparatus World Cups in 2022 spring should then be summarized selectively.
* By the way, at the end of this 10's series (Mersin) the first year without any high-quality all-around competition (!) in the FIG World Cup circus is completed. Both in the international professional world itself and and even in leading gymnastics nations of the world is unfortunately rather a dwindling media interest!
Urgent reformations of the whole system seem to be advised ...!
Now all are looking forward to the highlight of this year 2022, to the 51st Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in autumn (October 29 - November 06) in Liverpool.
♦♦ ... and now the very last World Challenge Cup of the Circuit 2022

(9) FIG World Challenge Cup Szombathely (HUN); (30. 09. - 02.10. 2022)
♦♦ The ninth and penultimate FIG World Cup of the post-Olympic year - amazingly after Paris again without any participation of the German-speaking nations (women) Switzerland and Germany, Austria is also represented only in the men's field ...?
... a pity, because here also interesting overseas competitors from Australia, Canada, Japan and the USA get urgently needed competition experience shortly before the World Championships. In any case, there is an acute lack of international comparison opportunities, especially in the all-around!

♦ Four 2022 "Apparatus World Cup Events":
(4) FIG Apparatus World Cup "AGF Trophy" Baku (AZE); March 31 - April 03
* f i g-preview --: In heady pursuit of 2022 FIG Apparatus World Cup series titles, some of Artistic Gymnastics’ most illustrious names are headed to Baku (AZE) March 31 - April 03 for the competition that will determine series champions on nearly every apparatus.
Following events in Cottbus (GER), Doha (QAT) and Cairo (EGY), more than 140 gymnasts representing 34 different nations are blowing into the “city of winds” on the Caspian Sea this week for the fourth and final leg of the 2022 series.
World Cup series rankings on each apparatus are based on a points total, which has been established by a gymnast’s placement at previous World Cup events. The top three finishes at World Cup events count toward the ranking.
Only two gymnasts have already mathematically sealed 2022 titles. With their third consecutive victories on men’s Vault and Parallel Bars in Cairo earlier this month, Artur Davtyan (ARM) and Illia Kovtun (UKR) assured themselves the crowns — and the 5,000 CHF bonus that comes with winning them. Everything else remains to play for — and from five continents, gymnasts are coming to play.
The organizers of this last of four Apparatus World Cups of the 2022 circuit expect about 150 participants from 35 different countries.
In the tournament, the traditional “AGF Trophy” will be presented to the gymnasts who received the highest execution score.
The venue is the Milli Gimnastika Arenasi (National Gymnastics Arena) in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku. ► Participating Nations

(3) FIG Apparatus World Cup, Cairo (EGY); 2022, March 17 - 20
* fig preview --: The third of four events in the 2022 FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup series, Cairo will showcase the talents of a rising Egyptian team taking full advantage of the event in its backyard.
Twenty-fourth at the 2019 World Championships, the Egyptian women are aiming to qualify a full team to the Paris 2024 or Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. To help them achieve their goal, the national federation has enlisted the help of French coaches Eric and Cecile Demay, who were responsible for French national teams in the 2000s and 2010s, including the team that finished 11th at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Good results in Cairo represent a small step toward their objective. Egyptians competing this weekend include Zeina Sharaf, one of two Tokyo 2020 Olympians from Egypt, veteran Nancy Taman, fourth on Vault at the 2021 World Championships, and Jana Mahmoud, a promising 17-year-old who made Uneven Bars and Balance Beam finals at last year’s Doha World Cup. Tokyo 2020 Olympian Omar Mohamed (EGY) and Still Rings star Ali Zahran (EGY) helm the efforts of the six-man Egyptian contingent.
The second World Cup to be held in the Egyptian capital during the past two years has attracted tremendous interest from gymnasts in Africa and the Middle East. Gymnasts representing Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Jordan, and Qatar, including Tokyo 2020 Olympian Caitlin Rooskrantz (RSA), a standout on the Uneven Bars, are set to take part.
World Cup stalwarts Daniela Batrona (UKR), Oksana Chusovitina (UZB), Artur Davtyan (ARM), Illia Kovtun (UKR), and Alexander Myakinin (ISR), all of whom have won at least one World Cup gold so far this season, are present in Cairo. In all, gymnasts from 33 nations are set to compete, the most of any World Cup event this year.

► GYMmedia: Our point of view ...:
After the qualification rounds at the 2nd FIG Annual World Cup in Doha (QAT), in which 6 Russian and 3 Belorussian athletes competed and presented themselves with exceptional performances and fought for 13 final places, we keep a report on them selected for sporting content Finals inappropriate in relation to the unspeakable suffering inflicted on the people of Ukraine under the same Russian and Belarusian flags.
