Olympic Champion Holger Behrendt: ... back to the Roots!

It is called the "Salt City" Schoenebeck" at the Elbe, near the state capital Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt, with nearly 32,000 rsidents, is the hometown of the last Olympic artistic gymnastics champion in the GDR, Holger BEHRENDT. Together with the former Soviet superstar Dmitri Biloserchev, 1988 he won Olympic gold on the still rings, silver with the team and bronze on the horizontal bar in Seoul. His bold maneuver on the iron bar is still fondly remembered: On the horizontal bar, he was the first gymnast in the world to combine a Kovacs somersault with a Deltchev somersault ... ! Now the long-time successful coach from Cottbus and Berlin is returning back to his hometown Schoenebeck and wants to open a new training center for the male youngsters there.
