As we only found out today, Hans PFANN - Germany's oldest Olympian - died on September 9th, just 5 days before his 101st birthday, in his home town of Neuoetting (Germany; Bavaria).
Born in Nuremberg, he was a member of two German Olympic teams (FRG; 1952 and 1956) and was married for over 65 years to Olympic participant Lydia Zeitlhofer, who died 2019 on September 10, one year after her "Iron Wedding". Hans Pfann was the oldest Olympic athlete in gymnastics until his death and was one of the TOP-TEN of the over 100-year-old Olympic athletes in all sports, worldwide!
Now the Hungarian Agnes KELETI is the oldest living gymnastics Olympian and gold medal winner - she will be 101 in January 2022.
In the previous year, Hans Pfann celebrated his ► 100 birthday in good health (September 14, 2020).
