Hikaru and Morante won Trampoline World Cup

2019 World champion Mori HIKARU (JPN) and Allan MORANTE (FRA) soared to their first individual World Cup titles at the FIG Trampoline World Cup Saturday, June 05, in Brescia (ITA). In her first World Cup since her triumph at the World Championships 19 months ago, Mori Hikaru (JPN) was head and shoulders above her competition, posting Time of Flight and Difficulty scores superior to every other competitor in the women’s field. These cushions helped her accumulate 55.110 points for her first World Cup victory by a comfortable one-point margin over veteran Anna Kornetskaya (RUS).
While delighted to get the win, Mori acknowledged this is just the beginning in what will be a pressure-filled Olympic season. “There are still many challenges!” the 21-year-old Tokyo native wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of her mid-salto.
2016 Olympic veteran Nicole Ahsinger’s (USA) solid performance secured her the bronze medal, while Madaline Davidson (NZL) and Jessica Pickering (AUS) rounded out the top five.
Allan Morante, who has taken over the mantle of France’s premier trampolinist, outscored the competition in the men’s final by tallying 60.765 points, with Time of Flight once again making the difference. The gold is Morante’s first as an individual and second overall; he won a World Cup event in Synchronised Trampoline in 2015.
Silver medallist Nishioka Ryusei (JPN) impressed with the highest difficulty routine, while Aleh Rabtsau (BLR) took bronze, outscoring everyone in execution but recording the lowest Horizontal Displacement score among the medallists. World medallists Nikita Fedorenko (RUS) and Andrey Yaudin (RUS) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Rabtsau did even better in Synchronised Trampoline, where he teamed with 2016 Olympic champion Uladzislau Hancharou for gold with 52.900 points, well ahead of Roman Barkov and Danil Mussabayev (KAZ), who nevertheless secured silver in the 19-year-old Barkov’s World Cup debut.
Lea Labrousse and Marine Jurbert (FRA), second and third as individuals at the recent European Championships, were the winning duo in women’s Synchronised Trampoline, outscoring veteran Maryna Kyiko and Anna Bakunovytska (UKR) and Viktoryia Kuidan and Katsiaryna Yarshova (BLR).
