History was written today at the 36th European Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Kyiv (UKR) as both Estonia and Turkey earned their first ever medals!
* In the 5 balls final, hosts Ukraine delivered a breath-taking routine, scoring 35.350 and setting a high standard for the other groups. Israel came within a point while top qualifier Azerbaijan couldn’t repeat Thursday’s stunning performance, so Ukraine took the European title ahead of Israel and Estonia clinched the bronze.
* The final with 3 hoops / 2 pairs of clubs was nail-biting until the very end. Turkey and Ukraine both scored 31.150, with the same difficulty and execution score. In this case, the technical deductions determine the final ranking, bumping Ukraine into second.
The first ever medal for Turkey, and it is gold immediately.
