* f i g --: The Gymnastics Ethics Foundation (GEF) was founded in January 2019 by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG), the world governing body for the sport of gymnastics with 148 member national federations. It now operates independently to ensure that violations of FIG rules, policies, and procedures, including ethical breaches, are handled in an unbiased way.
♦ The Gymnastics Ethics Foundation (GEF) has published its 2019 annual report, which summarises the key activities of its first full year of operation. One of the Foundation’s main missions is to strengthen the safeguarding of athletes and other participants in Gymnastics from harassment and abuse.
In the report, the former Swiss Foreign Minister, Federal Cuncil president and now current GEF President Micheline Calmy-Rey says: “The Foundation is positioned to listen and provide support to all those who reach out to us. The nature of the support provided is specific to each case. No two situations are exactly alike.”
The report provides an overview of the key developments in 2019, shows the number of cases that were dealt with, outlines the most important internal processes and lays out the plans for the future. The Foundation’s audited financial accounts are also included in the report.
