* Press Release, Cottbus / GER --: Due to the worldwide development of the coronavirus pandemic, the "International Tournament of Masters" (Turnier der Meister) - planned for late November in Cottbus - will not take place, as feared.
“This decision is the result of careful consideration of all options by the organizing committee. Even after the ban on major events was extended until the end of October, we organizers had not yet given up our hopes. We are also grateful for the sporting political backing and the sponsorship pool.
But the worldwide developments of the pandemic, which require appropriate measures, make the tournament neither infrastructural, logistical nor economically viable", said tournament director Mirko Wohlfahrt. “The focus of our considerations was the current social requirements and also the Olympic fair play concept. The health of all guests, but also that of the helpers and organizers, is the greatest asset that needs to be defended. We are unable to host our tournament as usual and are now concentrating on our application for spring 2021. ”
