* U E G - news --: In the last 48 hours, significant decisions have been made around the world with regards to the COVID-19 outbreak. Even though UEG and the host federations were previously keen to hold the events as scheduled with strict safety precautions, ongoing challenges presented by COVID-19 such as travel restrictions and Government mandates led to a thorough re-evaluation of our events in the first half of 2020.
** The following events are cancelled:
- European Championships in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics – Paris (FRA) – 30 April to 3 May 2020
- European Championships in Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline – Gothenburg (SWE) – 7 to 10 May 2020
- European Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics – Kyiv (UKR) – 21 to 24 May 2020
- European Championships in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics – Baku (AZE) – 27 to 31 May 2020.
* Rest assured that we are 100% committed to finding workable solutions for all these events. We aim to move them into the second half of the year and will work together with the Local Organising Committees to find new dates.
* More information will be published at the end of April. As many of these events are Olympic qualifiers, the FIG has been informed. We requested the reallocation of quota places to remain open only for European gymnasts. For all questions regarding the Olympic qualification process, please contact them directly.
* UEG President Farid Gayibov stated: Our main concern is always the safety and well-being of the gymnasts, their entourage, fans and our partners. Given the situation as it is today, we feel the postponement of these important events is the best option.
** The following events are pending a final decision on 25 March:
- European Gym for Life Challenge – Reykjavik (ISL) – 11 July 2020
- EUROGYM – Reykjavik (ISL) – 12 to 16 July 2020
* The following events are pending a final decision at the end of April:
- All training camps and coaches’ courses – July / August 2020.
At the moment, our events in October (Golden Age Gym Festival and TeamGym Europeans) remain scheduled as planned. We will communicate again at end of April when further information is relevant.
