The F.I.G. wrote about the first day of the very first Junior World Championships in history of artistic gymnastics in Gyor / HUN:
♦ Japan dominate on historic opening day of Junior Worlds
History was made at the Audi Arena, Gyor, Hungary on Thursday, 27 June, as the first ever medals of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships were handed out – and many of them were heading to JAPAN. They won the boys’ Team gold, and there was also an impressive Japanese one-two in the All-around, with Shinnosuke OKA (JPN) taking the gold and Ryosuke DOI (JPN) winning silver, Ilia KOVTUN from Ukraine won the bronze in all-around but also the silver medal with his team, followed by the Italian squad ...
♦♦ B O Y S Junior WORLDS:
‘Many pre-tournament observers thought that their teammate Takeru Kitazono (JPN) would become overall champion, after his dominance of the Gymnastics competitions at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games. And Kitazono was indeed placed in first position going into his last apparatus, but a fall on the Horizontal Bar damaged his score – allowing his compatriot Oka to prevail. Kitazono ended up with the third most points, but with only two athletes from each country being counted for the All-around ranking, the bronze medal went to Illia Kovtun (UKR).
Japanese Boys won also the Team gold medal in front of Ukraine and Italy took the bronze:

‘Almost perfect’ Listunova wins Junior World All-around as Russians shine
She started the day with a bump, falling from the balance beam in her first rotation – but outstanding performances from Russia’s Viktoria LISTUNOVA on the Vault, Floor Exercise and Uneven Bars were enough to secure the All-around title in the first day of girls’ competition.
Listunova’s tumble meant she only got 12.550 on Balance Beam, but her Vault (14.225), Uneven Bars (14.366) and Floor Exercise (14.166) combined were enough to narrowly beat her teammate Vladislava URAZOVA (RUS), who won silver. Aged 14, Listunova and Urazova will not be eligible for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but the gymnast who got bronze in the All-around – 15-year-old OU Yushan (CHN), has an excellent chance.
