US gymnastics--: Olympic team gold medalist and five-time World champion Kenzo Shirai and 2017 World floor gold medalist Mai Murakami, both of Japan, lead an impressive field of international competitors scheduled to compete at the 2018 American Cup. Competition is scheduled for March 3 at 10:30 a.m. CT in Chicago, at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The two-time U.S. junior national champion Maile O’Keefe has been selected as USA’s wildcard gymnast to compete alongside World all-around champion Morgan Hurd, representing the U.S. at the 2018 American Cup. On the men's side, Allan Bower has been chosen to compete with Yul Moldauer.
The American Cup is the USA’s most prestigious international invitational and part of the International Gymnastics Federation’s All-around World Cup series.
! The gymnastics scandal’s shockwaves also have financial implications: One day before Nassar’s sentencing, AT&T suspended its USA Gymnastics sponsorship, also as the title sponsorship of the 2018 American Cup.
