Fabian Hambuechen and Sophie Scheder are Germany's "Gymnasts of the Year" 2016". These last title holders of the Olympic year were announced at the final of the German Turnliga in Ludwigsburg. The German GYM-Magazine LEON* and the Turnclub Germany had the winners in a survey among the gymnastics journalists in Germany. The expert jury voted for the fourth time in a row for Fabian Hambuechen (TSG Wetzlar-Niedergirmes), who had won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro on completion of his career.
Andreas Toba from TK Hannover, who won a special prize for his extraordinary will at the Olympic Games, took second place in the survey among the men.
Third was Marcel Nguyen (TSV Unterhaching), who took part in the competition in Rio Platz 19 and won bronze at the European Championships in Bern.

<< Sophie Scheder from the TuS Chemnitz-Altendorf secured the award at the gymnasts.
The 19-year-old had won the Bronze medal in Rio de Janeiro, just before Elisabeth Seitz (MTV Stuttgart), who took second place in the survey.
Third was Kim Bui (also MTV Stuttgart), who was able to celebrate a successful comeback after injury this year.
