Maribor - the Slovenian city of the legendary Olympian and numerous artistic gymnastics Olympic and world champion Leon STUKELJ (1898 - 1999) - will host the 11th European TEAMGYM Championships from 12 to 15 October 2016. Sure, Leon Stukelj probably did not know this modern variant of the team spirit at his time, but surely the enthusiasm and the team spirit of the players, who were inspired by this variant, would surely be enthusiastic.
At the end Sweden won 2 of the three elite categories, but Denmark two of juniors. Iceland qon the gold with female junior teams. All the medals were won by the Scandinavian nations - only one bronze medal went to Great Britain the junior men group ...
Out of 14 European nations altogether 47 formations were enriched:
25 groups in the elite category and 22 junior formations.
The Scandinavians are traditionally most strongly represented: Denmark, Sweden and Norway are the starting point in all three categories of classes (men / women / mixed teams), both adults and juniors, as are the British with a maximum of 3 + 3 teams.
From the German-speaking area of Europe Switzerland is completely missing . Austria is competing with a men's group as well as with a women group (elite + junior women).
Germany starts with two female teams and a junior mix formation.
