Italy won the 41st Leverkusen-Cup in front of England and Germany

For the 41st time, the German club "Turn-Club '72" in Leverkusen invited to the 2016 International Leverkusen-Cup to the Ostermann Arena on October 08.
Eight teams from five different nations offered the over 1,300 spectators an exciting gymnastics competition at a high and international top level in a great atmosphere.

After four rounds, the team "GAL Lissone" from Italy won the Cup with a strong and close team performance and altogether 102.15 overall points and secured the coveted trophy of this oldest European tournament of women's artistic gymnastics.
The national team from England (team II) finished second (99.85 points) and took silver. On third place ranked  "selection team 1" from host Germany (97.35 points).

Tisha Vollemann (NED), best on bars

Best German gymnast became the current German junior champion Helene Schäfer (selection team 1) on fifth place with only 49.20 points - however after a strong mistake on the balance beam. Helene is the younger sister of the Worlds bronze medallist (2015) on beam, Pauline Schaefer.
Lisa Schoeniger (11/47,200) and Anuschka Maltzan (13/46/10), were also in Team Germany I, but the second best German gymnast ranked on 9th: Zoe Meissner in the Team GER III with 47.75 points.

41 years Leverkusen Cup 2016

The Leverkusen-Cup celebrated its 41st anniversary as the oldest international tournament in olympic-feminine in Germany this year, and was held on the 8th of October 2016 in uninterrupted succession.
The Leverkusen Cup is a team competition with integrated individual evaluation:

  • Three female artists form a team.
  • The two best ratings per unit count for the team rating.
  • The overall winner of the team ranking will receive the "Leverkusen-Cup-Wanderpokal".
  • Each gymnast performs a four-in-a-row event, where the best single-player of the competition will be the single winner of the Leverkusen Cup.
