2016 World Challenge Cup No. 9 in Mersin

Oksana Chusovitina, Lisa Ecker, Escobar Gomez on vault

Exclusively at athletes from the host nation Turkey (7 successes) and at Columbia (2x) and at the world oldest top gymnast Oksana CHUSOVITINA (vault: 15,325) from Uzbekistan (1x) were the victories at first conducted FIG Challenge Cup in Turkish Mersin.
The most successful gymnast were the loca hero Ferhat ARILAN (TUR) with successes on floor exercises and on the parallel bars, where he scored the maximum value (15,600 (6.9) for men. Austrian Lisa Ecker finished even rank 2 (vault) and two third places (u. bars). When already 9 (!) FIG Challenge Cup within just 5 months only (?), the world's best gyymnasts missed this event nearly completely ...!
* Unfortunately for the Turkish organizers of its Challenge Cup premiere: Around 20 national team did not travel to because of the terrorist attack at the Istanbul Atatürk Airport and the special flight cancellations ...!
