Uchimura: - his third Olympics! |
70th All Japan Final Round competition and national qualification for 2016 Olympic Games was held Sunday, June 05, in the Japanese capital Tokyo.
Of course top-star Kohei Uchimura is already selected, and after than four more names of team members for the Olympic selection in Rio de Janeiro were named:
Uchimura, who has won a record seven Olympic or World all-around titles, is set for his third Olympics. He can become the first gymnast to repeat as Olympic all-around champion since countryman Kawao Sato in 1968 and 1972. Uchimura will be joined in Rio by London Olympic teammates Koji Yamamuro (2011 World all-around bronze medalist), Ryohei Kato (2013 World all-around silver medalist) and Yusuke Tanaka (2014 World all-around bronze medalist). The newcomer is 19-year-old Kenzo Shirai, the 2013 and 2015 World champion on floor exercise. Youngster Shirai said to press: "I thought if I performed floor exercise good, and my dream, to participate at the Rio Olympics comes true! I made it!
Uchimura said: "This five members are really the best just now ! I mean we are the best gymnasts of all the world gymnastics!"

Asuka Teramoto (Chukyo Universiti/Les Logic Sports), Mai Murakami (Nippon Sport Science University), Aiko Sugihara (Asahi Seimei), Sae Miyagawa (Saints Gymnastic Club), Yuki Uchiyama (Smile Gymnastics), Marina Kawasaki (Tri-Gymnastic Club) and Natsumi Sasada (Nippon Sport Science University). From this candidates, will be selected the finally Top 5 on June 25.
