Nadia Comaneci, Johanna Quaas |
After nearly 20 hours of her journey yesterday from Halle, flying from the German capital Berlin with a stopover in Chicago, the world's oldest active artistic gymnast, Johanna QUAAS, now arrived in Oklahoma City safely and was warmly welcomed at the local airport by representatives of the "International Gymnastics Hall of Fame" (IGHOF).
Anyone familiar with the dynamic lady in her 90th year of live is absolutely not surprised that she naturally led one of its first routes in a gymnastics hall ... where she went the same together with Nadia COMANECI at the apparatus and the first exercises completed ... ..
"Grace does not save nor effort...!"
- a literary quote by the German writer Bertolt Brecht - think of one, if you look at the picture:
But all these dynamic ladies from childhood have remained true to one principle: movement as a life philosophy!
This applies to the nearly 90-year-old Johanna Quaas (photo front, left) with her still visible elegance and posture as to how the former stars of the international gymnastics scene behind her: Worldstar Nadia Comeneci, the Mexican Olympian from 1980, Estela de le Torre, Olympic and World Champion Elena Zamolodshikova (RUS) und Egenia Belenki from Germany - they all are in action on the beamin the "Gymnastics Academy" of Olympic Champion Bart Conner, Nadia's husband, in Norman, Oklahoma.
♦ On the Saturday evening take place the solemn admission of Jelena Zamolodshikova and Valeri Belenki in the honor Gallery of Hall-of-Fame and other awards for IGHO, Johanna Quaas, Abie Grossfeld and Philippe Silacci.
