The British Olympic Association (BOA) yesterday announced the 153 athletes selected to represent Team GB at this summer’s inaugural European Games in Baku.
Team GB will compete across 13 sports and 19 disciplines at Baku 2015, as 50 European nations come together for the continent’s first ever major multi-sport event that takes place from June 12th – 28th this year.
The British Gymnastics Federation will represented in the disciplines of men’s and women’s artistic, trampoline, aerobic and acrobatic gymnastics ...:
♦ Artistic Gymnastics
* Men: Nile Wilson; Brinn Bevan; Frank Baines
* Women: Tyesha Mattis ; Kelly Simm Rebecca Tunney
Nile Wilson said: “I am very proud and honoured to be representing Team GB in the first ever European Games. It's massively exciting for me, not just the fact it's a huge multi- sport event, but it's my return from a serious wrist injury and I can't wait to get back out in the competition arena.”
♦ Trampoline Gymnastics
* Women: Kat Driscoll Laura Gallagher
* Men: Luke Strong
Kat Driscoll said: “I'm really pleased to be representing Team GB again. The European Games will be a great platform into the competition season in such an important year. It's always an honour and privilege to compete for Team GB and I can't wait to get out there.”
♦ Acrobatic Gymnastics
* Women’s Group; Cicely Irwin; Jennifer Bailey; Josie Russell
* Mixed Pair: Hannah Baughn; Ryan Bartlett
Alan Edge, Team Leader, said: “The GB acrobatics mixed pair and women’s group are honoured to be representing Team GB in the first ever European Games at Baku in June. These Games represent a massive opportunity to perform on a truly multi-sport stage and to show the world what acrobatic gymnastics performed at the highest level can look like.”
