21st Houston National Invitational with Oxana Chusovitina and other Top Stars

Olympic medalists Jonathan Horton, Danell Leyva and Oksana Chusovitina and Olympic team members John Orozco and Jake Dalton will be among competitors at the Jewish Community Center of Houston’s 2015 21^st Houston National Invitational gymnastics meet Friday and Saturday at NRG Arena.

Horton, a two-time 2008 Olympic medalist and two-time national all-around champion from Houston, and Leyva, bronze medalist in the 2012 Olympic all-around and the 2011 world parallel bars champion, will be joined at the annual meet by other members of the USA Gymnastics men’s national team, including Orozco, the 2012 national all-around champion, Dalton, Houston gymnast Chris Brooks, Steven Legendre, Donnell Whittenburg and Paul Ruggeri.

Chusovitina, a two-time Olympic medalist and veteran of six Olympic Games for the Soviet Union, Unified Team and Germany, and Venezuelan gymnast Jessica Lopez will be among the women’s competitors, joined by members of the Brazilian national team.

The schedule includes team competition at 7 p.m. Friday, a 1 p.m,. Saturday session that includes men’s elite gymnasts and a college competition for military service academy teams from Air Force, Army and Navy, and a 6:15 p.m. Saturday session for women’s elite and level 10 gymnasts.
