German organisers of the 2015 FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships welcomed the discipline’s international elite to the GAZPROM World Cup that took place in Stuttgart’s Porsche-Arena from March 22 – 23, 2014. Part of the 2014 FIG World Cup series the tournament boasts a high-level line-up led by reigning All-around World Champion Yana Kudryavtseva and the new star Margarita Mamun of Russia.

Kudryavtseva is joined in the individual competition by her compatriots Margarita Mamun, the 2013 Ball and Clubs World Champion, and 2013 Grand Prix Final runner-up Maria Titova.
The impressive gathering further includes Ukrainians Ganna Rizatdinova, the 2013 World Hoop Champion and Viktoriia Mazur, who took Silver with the Hoop at last week’s World Cup in Debrecen (HUN).
Belarus has entered 2013 Ball and Clubs World Games Champion Melitina Staniouta and 17-year old Katsiaryna Halkina, who won Bronze with the Ball in Debrecen.
16-year old talented Marina Durunda, who took the Hoop title at last week’s World Cup competes for Azerbaijan, while 2013 Mediterranean Games medallists Carolina Rodriguez (Gold) and Kseniya Moustafaeva (Bronze) will represent Spain and France respectively.
Israel lines up experienced Neta Rivkin and 2013 World Games finalist Victoria Veinberg Filanovsky, while 2013 Asian Championships multiple Gold medallist Yeon Jae Son will represent South Korea.
Germany’s own Jana Berezko-Marggrander and Laura Jung, who train only a few kilometers away from the competition venue, look forward to competing in front of their home crowd. “Our German competitors don’t have to be shy in face of the international field,” said Michael Buerkle, Vice President of the Swabian Gymnastics Federation. “They trained well and hard during the past weeks and they will enjoy the home field advantage.”
With Russia, Italy and Bulgaria in the line-up, the German Rhythmic Group that ranked ninth at the 2013 World Championships will face some of the world’s best Groups in a top level competition.
Prominent ambassador of the Stuttgart World Cup is 2004 Olympic Champion and 2000 Olympic Bronze medallist Alina Kabayeva (RUS). An outstanding Rhythmic gymnast of the 1990ies, the today 30-year old Kabayeva is one of the most decorated gymnasts in the history of Rhythmic Gymnastics. Since 2007, she has been a State Duma Deputy from the United Russia Party. “I’m really pleased that the interest in Rhythmic Gymnastics is growing from year to year, bringing together different cultures, nations, religions and political views,” Kabayeva said. “Sport is more than just competition, and I hope the Gazprom World Cup in Stuttgart will provide further confirmation of that!”
