Jean-Pierre ZERBATO |
Jean-Pierre ZERBATO (LUX), former member of the Executive Board for the International Gymnastics Federation (F.I.G.), passed away on December 1, 2013 after bearing an illness with courage. He was 84 years old. A native of Schifflange (LUX), Zerbato devoted his life to local, national and international gymnastics. He was the Secretary General of his hometown club for 40 years, before being named Vice President of the Luxembourg Federation in 1964, a position he would occupy until 1972. His competency and commitment opened doors to him on the FIG Executive Committee in 1968, during the statutory elections held parallel to the Congress in Rome (ITA), under President Arthur Gander (SUI).
ZERBATO officially retired from gymnastic involvement in 1972.

Into old age, Jean-Pierre Zerbato was a very actice senior sportsman, yet:
So he was honored by his home town Schifflange yet in 2011 with an award as the third-best endurance swimmer and senior athlete: he had covered 561,000 meters in the local swimming pool in the year 2010.
