Last Olympic Day: Russia wins group final of Rhythmic Gymnastics Groups ahead of Belarus

In just a few hours conclude the XXX. Summer Games in London, but before there were still medals to give at one of the most aesthetic sports in the Olympic programme - rhythmic gymnastics. 
Again, as at the individual rhythmic gymnastics competition, the big favorites come from Russia, but had strong competitors with Italy and Belarus.

The last day of the competition in rhythmic gymnastics finished only with little surprises at the groups all-around final. The Russian group (57.000) won ahead of Belarus (55.500) and Italy (55.450), followed by Spain and the Ukraine.

Russia: The Russian group composed by six rhythmic gymnasts with long, slim lines and great ballet training, showed two good exercises. After the first one with five balls, choreographed to a piece of classical music combined with high risk exchanges and great body difficulties that suit perfectly this kind of gymnasts, they already pulled ahead of Italy and Belarus. One remark on their leotard for this exercise: it was a new leotard with half turned-up collars that might not let see the judges the correct shoulder positions.
Fast South American rhythms accompany the Russian mixed exercise with three ribbons and two hoops and sometimes it seems as if the girls can’t cope with the speed of the music. During the exercise the gymnasts are hurried around by the fast rhythms to the detriment of correct execution and their characteristic elegance. Nevertheless, the girls were more than happy with their performance as they didn’t have a single steady all-around competition this year and also the judges saw them on first place with this exercise.
