For the 36th time the LEVERKUSEN-CUP took place in the venue "Smidt-Arena". The title in 2011 went to the Italian team. The team from the club "Ginnastica Artistica. Lissonese“ won the cup with the score of 106.75 narrowly in front of the German team (103.20) and the team from Great Britain (99.50)
<< In the individual ranking Italy's Elisa Meneghini, the title holder from 2010, got first with 54.55 points in front of Germany's youth national champion Kim Janas (52.80).
1600 visitors saw an exciting competition on November 12th in Leverkusens "Smidt-Arena".
Many good routines were presented on the four Olympic apparatus during the 2 1/2-hours-long event. “The atmosphere again was great this year- the audience was thrilled by the various great performances of our guests from all over the World", said a happy tournament director Dieter Schulz of the organising club "Turn-Club 72 Leverkusen" after the award ceremony.
The title holder from 2010, the Italian club "GAL Lissonese", which has come to Leverkusen with top teams already for many years, again managed to win the cup this year. They ended the competition about 3 points ahead of the German team with Kim Janas, Nicole Ster and Nadja Schulze.
The leading gymnast in the individual ranking of this 36th Leverkusen-Cup 2011 was the title holder from 2010, Elisa Meneghini (Italy), in front of Germany's Kim Janas.
Elisa Meneghini won gold in the individual all-around as well as on beam and floor.
The current German youth national champion Kim Janas was the winner on uneven bars and got the silver medal on floor.
Teja Belak from Slovenia was the winner on vault. The third place in the team ranking went to the British team. Their best individual gymnast was Sophie Fitzgerald on the 6th place.
