TODAY: Chinese victory in Women s World Cup at the DTB-Cup / Russian men win team event

Today the third A-World Cup of the new series created by the FIG in 2011 has started with the women's all-around. After the American Cup in March in Jacksonville and the Grand Prix in Glasgow (April) now the 29th DTB-Cup in the venue "Porsche-Arena" in Stuttgart is being presented.

The Women's World Cup in Stuttgart has ended with the expected victory by China's HUANG, Qiushuang (58.032). The second place suprisingly was reached by Germany's Kim BUI (54.732), who only recently was included in the entry field to replace the injured Elisabeth Seitz. Yulia INSHINA from Russia narrowly secured herself the bronze medal (54.432) in front of Lauren Mitchell from Australia. On the places 5 - 8 follow Giulia Steingruber (SUI), Marlies Rijken (NED), Nadine Jarosch (GER) and Emily Little (AUS).

In the following final of the men's team event the Russian team won the gold medal in front of Great Britain, Germany and Switzerland.

The winner in Stuttgart 2011:
HUANG, Qiushuang (CHN)

And it could be seen again - the audience in Stuttgart which is already known for its' enthusiasm.
"Although the intention of the FIG - to bring together the World-best all-arounders in the new World Cup series - could not be realised: It nonetheless was a World Cup - worthy event today", said GYMmedia-correspondent Ronny Ziesmer. "Good gymnastics was presented and it was an exciting competition. However, China's Huang, Qiushuang was the only one to present truely World-class performances. This was also underlined by the fact that she won the event more than three points ahead of her competitors!"

At the end of the year and only a few weeks after the highlight, the World Championships in Tokyo, it was obvious that the competitors are tired. Most of the participants showed a reduced content of difficulty - but this might also be a reason for only very few instabilities in today's performances. Especially convincing was the motivated performance by Germany's Vice- national champion Kim Bui. She replaced Germany's national champion Elisabeth Seitz who had to cancel her participation due to an injury only a few days before the event. Kim Bui is an experienced gymnast and due to this managed to get well also through difficult situations during her routines.

Other participants, like Nadine Jarosch, were already back into their daily lives after the World Championships. The 16-year-old German still was busy with a written test at school yesterday! Also Australia's Lauren Mitchell has to return to her home country right after the competition: The student of biomedical sciences  has to be back at university for an exam which absolutely can't be postponed anymore! Like other competitors also she didn't manage to show her top performances today.
However, also this belongs to the life of the gymnasts and shows that not always only the grade of perfection of the performances an be judged.
Already before it was known that it would not be realised to see the top-8 all-arounders in the women's field in Stuttgart.
