GYMfamily Event29th DTB-Cup 2011: A-World Cup with innovations

On the following weekend the third event of the new World Cup series 2011 will be held in the venue "Porsche-Arena" in Stuttgart. The series will then end on the last November weekend (26th/27th) in Tokyo.

After the American Cup in March in Jacksonville and the Grand Prix in Glasgow (April) now again eight of the best all-arounders in the World will compete at the 29th DTB-Cup 2011. The main World Cup competitions will take place on Saturday for the women and on Sunday for the men.

In the men's field the main competitors for Vice-World Champion Philipp BOY (GER) will be the 4th-ranked of the 2011 World Championships Daniel PURVIS (GBR) and the 7th-ranked Mykola KUKSENKOV (UKR). Also Germany's second competitor Marcel NGUYEN (GER) has the chance to reach a top position.

Since more than a decade SPIETH Gymnastic
- also since 1983 official supplier of the DTB-Cup -
supports the World-wide GYMmedia-reporting in all gymnastics disciplines!

Philipp BOY, the current Vice-World champion in the all-around is the top favourite in the Porsche-Arena. With a victory, he could get a lot closer to the current leading gymnast of the ranking list, Mykola Kuksenkow (UKR) - however, it's a tough competition and the daily form will be decisive ...!

The World Cup-entry field of the Women
is a lot more "widely spread" than it was planned with the new mode of the World Cup Series. The plan was to have the top 8 all-arounders of the previous World Championships in the entry field. However, none of the top-ranked gymnasts of the last World Championships in Tokyo will compete in Stuttgart and from the top-10 of the World Championships Rotterdam 2010 only the 6th-ranked Lauren MITCHELL and the 4th-ranked HUNG, Qiushuang (CHN; photo on the left) will be present.

With the 5th place at the 2011 World Championships the gymnast from China also is the top-ranked gymnast in Stuttgart this year.

Behind her follow  Lauren MITCHELL as 8th - and then already the two German gymnasts Nadine JAROSCH (10th) but not Vize-European Champion Elisabeth SEITZ (11th), because she failed after an injury, so the German Vice champion Kim BUI will start at this event  for the German hosts!

Kim BUI (GER), the German Vice-All-around champion and European bronze medallist on bars will start in this world cup event, because Elisabeth Seitz injured herself only a few days before.

Movement in the World of gymnastics
________________________________
At all times the organisers in Stuttgart had innovative ideas: At first the DTB-Cup in 1983 took place in the "classic style" with a men's competition. One year later a women's event was added.
Since 1993 as Grand Prix event only the best gymnasts per apparatus were decided and a few years later the new idea of the "winners final" was created. - A direct duel between the two best gymnasts per event within only a few minutes.
At the turn of the millenium the top events were put together as "Great Four". In addition to the DTB-Cup these were the events France Telecom as well as the Grand Prix's in  Cottbus and Glasgow.
Since 2002 a larger World Cup series was established which created a big amount of champions on individual apparatus.
With the idea to strengthen the all-around as the core piece of modern gymnastics in 2008 the series of the "Champions Trophy" was added.
From this one the FIG has developed a new World Cup series of 4 events, the A- World Cup for the best all-arounders among the top gymnasts of the World.
