Dubko, Karavaeva |
That same year (1965) Dubko graduated from the Krasnodar Pedagogical Institute, and went on to become a Trampoline coach in 1966.
Head coach Vitaly Dubko and assistant coach Ludmilla Nemezhan developed and coached champions such as Alexander Moskalenko (Olympic Champion, 5-times World Champion, 3-times European Champion), Irina Karavaeva (Olympic Champion, 5-times World Champion, 3-times European Champion), Evgeni Janes (2-times World Champion, European Champion), German Khnychev (World Champion, 2-times European Champion), Evgeni Jakovenko (European Champion), Natalia Chernova (European Champion), Ludmilla Karpova (European Champion).
The first major World Champion titles were won by Evgeni Janes in Individual Trampoline, and by Janes and Evgeni Jakovenko in Synchronised Trampoline in 1976.
Kuban athletes have taken Gold medals at every single World and European Championships held since then, with the exception of the 1980 and 1982 Worlds, which were boycotted by the Soviet Union. In total, Dubko has coached eleven world champions, who together have amassed countless titles.
In 2000, Dubko was voted "Best Coach of the Century" by the international Trampoline community.
In Russia, Dubko received all the highest awards possible for a coach including the title of Deserved Coach of Russia and the USSR.
Together with his wife Yulia, Dubko has one son, Sergey, one granddaughter, Yulia, and one great-grandson, Arseny.
“Vitaly Dubko is a true legend in our sport,” FIG Trampoline Technical Committee President Horst Kunze (GER) said. “Having produced World Champions continuously over a period of 35 years is an extraordinary achievement. We wish Vitaly good health and hope that he will continue to work for Trampoline for many years to come!”
