Epke Zonderland and Céline van Gerner are the gymnasts of the year 2010. Junior Tess Moonen was awarded with the prize for the most talented gymnast of the year. The women’s team in artistic gymnastics has been elected team of the year. On the occasion of the New Years’ reception, the Royal Dutch Gymnastics Federation KNGU has awarded its prizes for the year 2010. A group of journalists has proceeded to the nominations. The elections were made by a jury of experts, international judges, former athletes and two professionals of the Dutch press, one of them a TV commentator. Last year, Epke Zonderland has won the silver medal at the high bar at the European Championships in Birmingham as well as at the World Championships in Rotterdam.
Also at the Europeans 2010 in Birmingham, and for her start in the senior’s category, Céline van Gerner obtained the fourth rank at the beam final.
Tess Moonen won the bronze medal on beam in the junior’s category. She also qualified for the beam final at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.
The women’s team qualified for the final in Birmingham where it took the 7th rank.
