Jesús Carballo Jr.: Spanish Federation s new president

The former two-times world champion on high bar Jesús Carballo (jr) Martínez (34) was elected as the new president of the Royal Spanish Federation of Gymnastics.
The former  world class gymnast won the election with 49 votes, in front of two rival applicants Angelo Madroñal (24 votes) and Cheo Llera (03 votes).
Llera is the former coach of Spanish National team member Laura Campos. So Jesus Carballo (jr) is the youngest president ever of the Spanish Federation.

After the tragic death of the four-times European champion (1957, Paris) Joaquin Blume in a plane crash in 1959 Jesus Carballo was the next Spanish gymnast, winning international top titles again:
World Champion 1996 (San Juan, PUR) and 1999 (Tianjin, CHN) and in 1997 the silver medal in Lausanne on high bar.
Jesús Carballo is part of the Carballo saga, a family that has ruled Spanish gymnastics for over 30 years.
His father is the National Head coach of the women's team and his two brothers, Manuel Carballo (in active) and Javier Carballo (retired, but now a national coach) are part of the men's national team.
