Drawing of Lots for the 1st Youth Olympic Games

* f i g --: While the countdown is on for the 1st Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, the qualification phase for the FIG’s Olympic disciplines is now closed.
The official drawing of lots for Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoline Gymnastics competitions took place parallel to the FIG Council meeting in Chiba (JPN) on May 13, 2010.

The draw was conducted by the FIG Technical Committee Presidents for their respective disciplines, namely Adrian Stoica (ROU) for Men’s Artistic, Nellie Kim (BLR) for Women’s Artistic, Maria Szyskowska (POL) for Rhythmic and Horst Kunze (GER) for Trampoline Gymnastics.

A total of 150 Junior gymnasts will participate in the inaugural Youth Olympic Games, for which the majority qualified via their respective Junior continental championships between November 2009 and May 2010.
In addition, one place in each category is reserved for the host country Singapore, and a defined number of National Olympic Committee (NOC) universality places are still to be granted.

* Trampoline Gymnastics
12 boys and 12 girls will compete in Trampoline Gymnastics, 17 of whom qualified via their continental championships.
Three universality places for boys and three places for girls will be allocated.
One single place for both genders was originally reserved for the host country, but since no gymnasts from Singapore participated in the continental qualifying event, which is mandatory for YOG participation, the unused quota place was allocated to the next eligible NOC from the same continent, in this case Japan.
