Triple Success of German team at GYMNASTICS INTERNATIONAL

It was a huge knot, which obscured the win for the favorite - the Russian national group, and even the 3 strings and two ropes were not to be untangled after leaving the mat. So the German national group celebrated a victory in Fellbach-Schmiden at the 20th edition of "GYMNASTICS INTERNATIONAL" and moved ahead of the Russian B-formation after 2 exercises with 49,733 : 47,466 points. §rd place belonged to Slovakia (40,280) ahead of Kasachstan (39,708) and the Czech Republic.
But in the juniors the win went clearly to Russia: Daria Swatkowskaja won with 102,950 ahead of the local matador Jana Berezko-Marggrander (99,200) and the Ukranian Viktoria Shynkarenko (98,750).

Five weeks before the Europeam Championships in Bremen the Schmidener organisers had excluded the single all-around exercise of the elite from the programme of the jubilee tournament - so the gymnastics groups were shifted into the centre of attention. However only four formations responded to the invitation, still including top nation Russia with a so called "B-national-group".
Like no other country Russia presented itself with two equally beautiful top groups...

While the A-formation attended the World Cup in Debrecen at the same time, due to the overly full international competition calendar, the B-Team was of course the favorite here in Schmiden, as a world class representative.
But then it happened:
In the exercise with the very much disliked apparatus combination 3 bands / 2 ropes, a huge knot came together of all 5 hand apparati, leaving the unlucky Russian very confused, even after leaving the mat...
The German group made use of this, who had to do without Karolina Raskina due to an injury and attended with the Camilla PFEFFER und Sara RADMAN, from Schmiden
But then it happened:

... Cathrin PUHL and Mira BIMPERLING from Rehling and with Regina SERGEEVA (Söflingen).
With a solid all-around achievement they kept in control of the other four competitors and in the end, won this, for them, very important European Championship test.

Group final of the elite: -- The German national team themselves had not expected a tripple win, - even in their own training place in Fellbach-Schmiden - especially if opponents from Russias national team are in the house.
The Russian girls allowed themselves a complete second league, a B-Formation so to say, and in Schmiden one was probably even more curious about this than about an A-Formation. because these are well known by the gymnasts from various competitions.
Everyone was eager to see how this "B-group" would present itself. The Russian group laid out some fresh gymnastics, with ambitious choreographies and high risks. But these became a problem apparently, there were too many mistakes, too many instabilities in the exercises.

The German group went on safety in the choreography, but pulled through it's programme surely and strongly.
This was- at least this time - the right way to go.
Not that Germany presented utterly clean gymnastics with no mistakes - especially in the final exercise 3 bands/ 2 ropes there were small mistakes to be seen - but the group was confident and the gymnastics were convincing.

Final day of the juniors:
Four time triumph by the daughter of Oksana Skaldina
In the Juniors, the Russian Daria Swatkowskaja did not only take the all-aroud title, but also all four singles finals. Here the gymnastics world was in order again: the playful, quite small, but refreshing and cheekily performing gymnast showed a really convincing competition. It seems to be genetic, as her mother (and trainer at the same time), who was supporting her in the Gymnastics-Forum Fellback, is three time European Champion of the European Championship 1992 in the Stuttgarter Schleyerhalle, Oksana Skaldina. She was as the start for the Ukraine at that time, afterwards she performed at the Olympic games of Barcelona in the last unified team the already split up UdSSR. and won the Bronzemedal there.
