Finish of 2009 Trophy Circuit
|
With his first daily win in the Porsche Arena Stuttgart the Russian world championship all-around 5th placed Maxim Dewiatowski also secured himself the overall win of the "Champions Trophy 2009", made up of four competitions. Only five weeks after his ligament injury in his left foot, the all-around European champion Fabian Hambüchen showed a strong comeback, and became second in front of Matthias Fahrig from Halle and ahead of the Bavarian Marcel Nguyen ...
Until the last minute the Stuttgarter organisers were worried about Fabian Hambüchens start, but the 22 years old performed only 5 weeks after his ligament injury, even though only 10 days remain for him, to be capable again of managing with the floor and vault, an all-around performance.
And it worked: especially on the rings one could see sovereignity - very athletic. Obvious problems still on the floor and with the vault but in the end he would have only needed another 3/10 points, and her would have beated the winner of the day Maxim Dewiatowski.

Deviatovski was as happy as a snow king, about his first daily win of this series, but in the end, especialyy - apart from the 15,000.- Euro winning prize- about the Mercedes "SLK" sports car from the Swabian metropolis for the all-over winner, with which he will surely find admirers in the Swabian metropolis!
With satisfaction the coach of the German national team Andreas Hirsch will surely note the third place of Matthias Fahrig, but apart from "Matze's" (nickname) special capabilities on the floor (best today) and with the vault (second after the vice world champion Koczi) being one thing - all around achievements serving the team but with a view to what lies ahead! And there, Fahrig really had a strong day...!
