The former OBI-Cup, which from the outset was an attractive team competition, has meanwhile become a real indicator for the level of performance of the upcoming generations of gymnasts in the participating nations. Even teams from Australia and the USA took part in this competition in the past and the 2004 Olympic Champion, Japan, are taking the trip to Berlin especially seriously. For them the event is a useful way to compare their own level of performance with the teams from Europe.
As first arrived at last Sunday already a French team, titleholder Japan arrived on Wednesday evening an will begin its training from Thursday on in the German capital.
For the European teams the International Junior Team Cup is valuable to help them see where they are positioned ahead of the Junior European Championships which will take place in Birmingham in 2010.
