Exhibition to Mark 110th Anniversary of Birth of Leon Stukelj

The exhibition "Leon Stukelj 1898-1999-2008" in memory of Slovenia's most famous Olympic medalist was open this week on Leon Stukelj's 110th birthdate in his hometown Novo mesto this week.

The documentary exhibition and booklet outlines Stukelj's life and achievements in sports. 
Two times Slovenian Olympic pommel horse champian Miroslav Cerar officially opened the exhibition.

LEON STUKELJ - the first Slovenian Olympic champion and medal winner, died in 1999, November 8, some days before his 101st birthday...

Stukelj's  100th Birtday Party 1998 became nearly the character of a big Slovanian National day!
The young Slovenia dedicated the big sportsman and gymnast the first stamp and the backside of a Tolar coin ...
In 1996, Stukelj attended the Olympic Games in Atlanta as the oldest living Olympic champion.
In 1998 he was inducted into the "International Gymnastics Hall of Fame".
Leon STUKELJ died 1999, at November 8  some days before his 101st birthday in his hometown Maribor.
2000 Slovenia declared the big European character postum  "Ahtlete of the Century"

In 2000, in memory of Leon Stukelj, the German Sports Press named its Gymnastics Magazin:  L E O N * !
