The best of the WORLDS will be there...
"The original host of the event, Lüdenscheid and Würzburg, had given back the competition - Wolfstein and Ramstein fortunately accepted quite fast, so that this popular competition can take place after all, ", says Dirk Balkenohl of the International Whee Gymnastics Federation IRV happily. "We are expection the leading teams, the best three of the World Championships in Salzburg and we are especially happy to welcome the gymnasts from the Netherlands, who surprisingly won gold in the WORLDS."
In the German team, all members have current World Champion titles: Janin Oer (FOTO; VFB Fallersleben) is the current all-around world champion and together with Nadine Münster (TSV Bleidenstadt) she is alse title holder in twist.

Constantin Malchin (GER) - World Champion in twist wheel gymnastics
|
Annette Pusch of the TV Bensberg gained gold in straight wheel gymnastics with Cécile Meschberger from Switzerland. And Constantin Malchin (FOTO; TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen) is the world champion in twist wheel gymnastics.
In the WORLD-TEAM-CUP, which takes place every two years between World Championships, 4 gymnasts start per team (juniors/adults) in the 6 wheel gymnastics disciplines: 2 times straight gymnastics with music, 2 times twist gymnastics, once vault and one discipline of choice. The gymnasts can do up to three routines, but at most one per discipline.
It is on purpose that the competition takes place on two days and in two very close cities, "so that numerous spectators can see the best wheel gymnasts in attractive tournaments," explains Balkenohl. "The gymnasts start in each of the venues and the overall winner is only made out after the second day."
>>There is news in 2008: The teams start in rounds with different disciplines, which grants variety. The winner gains 4 points per round, the second 3 points, the third 2 and the last 1 point. In the end, not only the valued scores count, but also the points of the rounds, that is: the team with the most points iof the rounds wins. It is also possible again, to launch a "Joker" und try to gain more points this way. This concept was already well-received last year in Flensburg and Trappenkamp (Schleswig-Holstein) ...
