UEG celebrated the 25th Anniversary at its 22nd Congress

Last weekend ended the 22nd Congress of the European Gymnastics Federation (UEG), which was held in the Czech capital Prague.
The 150 delegates, representing 39 nations of the altogether 47 members of UEG, also celebrated the 25th birthday of this European gymnastics organisation....

UEG Events 2008 will be:
* European Championships
 of
   ... Artistic Gymnastics (women)  in Clermont Ferrand (FRA);
   ... Artistic Gymnastics (men)   in Lausanne (SUI);
   ... Trampoline in Odense (DEN),
   ... Rhythmic Gymnastics in Turin (ITA);

* Eurogym Festival in Albi (FRA),  the
* TeamGym Championship in Gent (BEL), and the
* 1st official Golden Age Gym Festival will be organized in Maspalomas (ESP) in cooperation with the organizers of the BLUME-Gran Canaria Festival. .

Birthday Celebration...
On Saturday, October 06 was held a special birtday celebration.
Pierre Chabloz (SUI), founder and first UEG president, spoke about the first steps and the beginning of an impressively development of this organisation.
A very interesting message came from the former EBU sports coordinator (European Broadcasting Union), Mr. Richard BUNN, who said:
"...Contrary to the biggest part of the other sports, your sport is directed by technicians who think gymnastics all year long – but don’t forget that your clients, who are the TV spectators, have the choice of about 200 TV programs, movies, Internet and a whole lot of other leisure activities. You have to interest them, to make them understand in an intelligent way what gymnastics is, otherwise they will forget. Therefore, 'keep your sport simple, short and attractive' ...!”
