The Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation informed, that its Congress held on January 16 has elected a new President, Yuri Dedukh, a candidate proposed by the Russian Olympic Committee.
Yuri Titov, who replaced Leonid Arkaev in December 2004, remains at the Russian Federation as 1st Vice-president; Svetlana Khorkina was confirmed as vice-president....
The new President Yury Dedukh is a businessman from Donesk (Ukraine). He manages several gas and oil companies in Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic states.
“The decision to nominate a new president was not spontaneous” the new President said. “We discussed this question for more than six months. According to the programme I have proposed, one million dollars will be allocated each year for the development and the needs of gymnastics. This investment is necessary to bring Russian gymnastics back to its former level. Therefore, we will concentrate on the development of the young gymnast”.

It was also mentioned that Leonid Arkaev, former head coach and president of the Russian Federation has accepted a position as head coach of the national Korean team. South and North Korea will form one team for the 2006 Asian Games and 2008 Olympic Games.
