ŠIŠKA Gym International 2005 - First Day s qualifications

Everyone was welcomed warmly by mouse “Miška” for the qualifications of the 9th ŠIŠKA Gym International.

The last test before the World Championships in Melbourne didn’t go too well for the two Romanians Leonida and Eremia who had quite a few problems today.

Far better presented themselves the girls from the Netherlands Lichelle Wong (35.900) and Danila Koster (34.800) who reached the ranks 1 and 2 in the all-around of this qualification.
Floarea Leonida (ROM) (photo. left) ended up only on rank 3 (34.125)…
Romania's Floarea Leonida started badly with a fall on her 1st vault and an also not perfectly executed Yurchenko 1/1 twist as 2nd vault (8.300).
No falls or major errors but a few insecurities and not perfectly executed elements then followed on uneven bars and beam. Her floor routine included a tucked full-in, double somersault bw. piked (landed out of bounds) and a triple twist of which the rotation was not finished (8.000/ SV 9.400).

Her teammate Alexandra Eremia competed only on beam where she fell after her combination of ff – ff - split layout bw. and then also touched the floor with her hands on her double somersault bw. tucked dismount (7.900/ SV 9.400).

The hosts from the “ŠIŠKA Gim Klub” could be happy with the performance of their young talent Alenka Dolničar. In front of home crowds the 14-year-old gymnast presented an energetic competition. Coach Mitija Samardžija was visibly relieved after she stuck the dismount of her beam routine (somersault fw. tucked with 1/1 turn) which included the nice combination of split leap – somersault bw. tucked and a strong somersault fw. tucked.
