'Wimbledon of Gymnastics'
At the 23rd Anniversary of the traditional DTB-Cup the German hosts expect 48 female and 92 male gymnasts representing 41 Nations - a new record in the history of this event! Among them are a lot of Olympic, World and continental champions. The 'Cr?me de la Cr?me' of the international gymnastics scene will be in Stuttgart, the City of the 2007 World Championships
It was the former Belorussian world star Ivan Ivankov who once during the 90ies compared the DTB Cup with the tennis tournament of Wimbledon.
Of course it will also be a very good possibilty to see a lot of the favourites for the upcoming World Championships (Melbourne, November 2005) and for the German hosts to celebrate the performances of their young star Fabian Hambuechen...
23rd DTB-Cup 2005, A- Worldcup - Stuttgart, Oct. 21st - 23rd 2005
in the venue Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle - A great entry field will be present – the most impressive facts are certainly presented by Romania:
With 3-time Olympic Champion
Catalina Ponor, 2-time Olympic and European Champion
Monica Rosu as well as pommel horse legend
Marius Urzica and World- and European Champion
Marian Dragulescu this team can present a variety of titles which can’t be excelled.
High- quality women’s field A lot of cheers by the aucience in Stutgart can be expected when the Romanian stars will meet e.g. floor World Champion
Daiane dos Santos from Brazil or also
Suzanne Harmes from the Netherlands.

Yuri van Gelder (NED) - specialist on rings -
|
Who will be Stuttgart’s
'Lord of the rings...'?
On rings a spectacular duel can be expected:
With Yuri van Gelder and Dimosthenis Tampakos two absolute specialists will meet: The number one on the World ranking list from the Netherlands and the current World and Olympic Champion from Greece!
Are the true all-arounders becoming more and more rare....?
A remarkable “all-arounder” comes from Japan: Team Olympic Champion 2004 Daisuke Nakano. However, also in one or the other apparatus final he can be expected in the top ranks. In order to reach a top position he certainly will have to deal with Olympic Champion Valeri Goncharev (UKR) on parallel bars and on high-bar with European Champion Manuel Carballo from Spain…
...High-bar: A true highlight
A drama couldn’t be written better:
The high-bar final at the end of the 3 competition days in Germany with the newly-crowned European Champion from Debrecen 2005, Fabian Hambuechen! However, the decision in this final will only have been made after the last dismount will have been carried out. A thrilling final can anyway be expected when a highly motivated “Fabi” will compete against e.g. Australia’s Philippe Rizzo or former World- and European Champion Vlavios Maras (GRE).
...latest news regarding the entry field:
>> Italy confirmed the participation of Vice-European Champion 2004 on pommel horse Alberto Busnari as well as Matteo Angioletti;
>>... Belgium had to withdraw their complete team due to the flu.
