PREVIEW: 1st ASIAN INDOOR GAMES
Thailand will host the 1st Asian Indoor Games 2005 from November 12 to 19 .
They will take place in Bangkok, Chon Buri, Suphan Buri, and Phuket.
The Asian Indoor Games comprise nine sports, namely swimming, hoop takraw, dance sports, sports aerobics, indoor athletics, futsal, indoor cycling, muay, or kick boxing, and extreme sports, which includes bicycle stunt flatland, bicycle stunt park, inline skate, skate board, and sports climbing....
More than 30 Asian countries with around 2,000 athletes have accepted to join the 1st Asian Indoor Games. Thailand has invited 45 members of the Olympic Council of Asia to participate in the Games, aimed at promoting better understanding and friendship among Asian nations.
Mascots 'Hey and Ha'
The 1st Asian Indoor Games mascots are a couple of young Thai elephants, named 'Hey and Ha', who are best friends. Despite their youth and physical differences, both elephants are sport enthusiasts.
They will help in public relations for the Games, serving as hosts, entertainers, and guides.
HEY -- the eight-year-old bright blue elephant, has a tall, well-shaped, and athletic body. He is a talented sportsman and a scholarship student at Suphan Buri Sports School. With his strong determination, Hey is serious about making great efforts to achieve his aim.
HA -- the six-year-old yellow elephant, is plump because he enjoys eating. As he is a student at an international school, Ha speaks English fluently. He loves playing all kinds of sports, though he is not a skillful player.
