The most successful coach in the history of artistic gymnastics, world famous Leonid Arkajew is currently neither president of the Russian Gymnastics Federation nor coach of the Russian national team anymore, but is holding functionary appointments only.

Factually, at present, Arkajew is nothing more but a “coach legend”; however for retirement from gymnastics he considers himself a number of years under age.
Thus he is not only paying attention to Russian gymnastics talents, yet accepted to attend a training camp of Slovakian talents in Trnava (SVK) following an invitation of Slovak Gymnastics Federation president Jan Novák.


Last week in Trnava:
Slovak national team coaches, talented young gymnasts as well as representatives of the Slovak Federation lined up as Leonid Arkajew and assistant Marina Bulaschenko from Russia arrived.
A lot of prolific daily training sessions in the gym as well as expert talks and technical panel discussions were to follow. 'This legendary coach with his great international reputation... due to that, naturally, our girls worked particularly hard,' - said Monika Siskova from the Slovak Gymnastics Federation. 'All the girls even received detailed personal „Homeworks“. And Arkajew has said: „Now they have to work and train – I’ll be back!!“
