PREVIEW: A strong Canadian Team Two-time Olympic medallist
Karen Cockburn of Toronto headlines Canada’s world championship team which will compete this Friday and Saturday at a World Cup trampoline and tumbling competition in Ostend, Belgium.
Cockburn is joined on the women’s trampoline team by Canadian champion Rosannagh MacLennan of Toronto, Sarah Charles of Kelowna, B.C., and Brenna Casey of Ottawa. ....
The Canadian men’s trampoline squad is comprised of Bryan Milonja of St-Bruno, Que., Charles Thibault of Charlesbourg, Que., and Mathieu Turgeon and Jason Burnett, both of Toronto.
Canada also has five entries in the tumbling competition with Emily Smith and Andree Matte, both of Burlington, Ont., for the women and Denis Vachon of Burlington, Anton Minayev of Calgary and Dane Percival of Calgary for the men.
This is the fourth stop on the trampoline and tumbling circuit which extends over two years. The sixth and final World Cup event is November 23-26, 2006 in Birmingham, England.
The World Cup highlight this year for Canada was at the second stop in
Levallois (France) in June. Cockburn and MacLennan combined forces for gold on synchronized trampoline and Cockburn added a bronze in inividual trampoline.
